Tana

Tana municipality is the meeting point between east and west Finnmark. It also borders on Finland.

Deatnu/Tana is a three-language municipality where the Saami, Norwegian and Finnish languages are spoken.

People live in vigorous villages from Tanadalen valley till the mouth of the river Tana and Tanafjord. Here you will meet living cultures in a magnificent mixture of tradition and renovation.

The Saami days in Austertana, Skiippagurra festival, Langnesmarket and Lavvonjarg days express the scope of multicultural Deatnu/ Tana. River Tana and tributaries are the world’s most important place for fishing salmon. The mouth of the river Tana is the largest unspoilt delta area in Europe.
